TEAFAM project (2019)

This was a one year project implemented in partnership with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and KTDA Foundation. The aim was to integrate agri-nutrition training through SBC in tea farming thus improving feeding practices among tea farming communities in Kericho, Bomet and Nyeri Counties.

The trainings targeted kiosk sellers and tea farmers in the regions. Kiosk sellers are key influencers of the eating habits in a village or community. To ensure that they give the proper nutrition information to their customers the kiosk sellers were trained on how they can contribute towards improving the nutrition status and welfare of their communities/clients.

The project also conducted experiential learning activities through participatory cooking demonstrations focused on complementary feeding in addition to using PIMA TOTO’s feeding bowl to serve the correct amount of food to children 6-23 months. The farmers were also taken through preparation of family foods especially for people with different conditions e.g. diabetes and hypertension.
