CBCC Africa is seeking to fill the position of an Accounts Assistant; this position is based in Nairobi.

Job Summary

The Accounts Assistant will assist the Finance Officer/Finance Manager in the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance functions in initiating, capturing and preparing required accounting transactions and ensuring timely provision of services/support consistent with accounting procedures. The Accounts Assistant provides support to the Finance Officer/Finance Manager in statutory and partner related compliance issues and budget monitoring.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate online supplier and other bills payments ensuring all supporting documents are attached and appropriately approved
  • Prepare payment vouchers and cheques for approval
  • Prepare & maintain petty cash vouchers, ledger postings and cash reconciliations
  • Accurately and timely post data into the financial accounting system (QuickBooks) and ensure all transactions are posted against the correct GL and the correct cost centres
  • Prepare monthly bank and M-pesa reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit monthly statutory deductions on time
  • Prepare project, finance reports and financial statements for review and approval
  • Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process
  • Maintain an organised and well documented filing system
Knowledge and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Professional accounting qualifications: CPA 2 and above
  • At least 3 years’ relevant working experience in a similar role; experience in an NGO will be an added advantage
  • Must have good working knowledge of computerized accounting software, preferably QuickBooks
